About the Artist William Verdult

William Verdult is a world renowned artist, well-known for his unique mastery of both classical and modern impressionist oil painting. William also sculpts, sketches, and paints in watercolor – occasionally even combining various techniques and mediums.

William Verdult was born in Putte, in Nazi-occupied Holland in April of 1939. William, at the age of just 11 years old, immigrated to America in 1950 with his family to seek out a better life. Enamored with art and painting since his youth, William has drawn upon his childhood experiences growing up in war-torn Europe as well as his near-fatal bouts with small pox and rheumatic fever in some of his more somber, reflective pieces. Once in America, in less than a decade William’s talents had established him as a major up and coming artist and had already earned him notoriety at the age of just 21 years old when he was voted “Artist of the Year” by a major Southern California art league. Since that time, William’s art has continued to receive countless accolades, commendations, and awards – including a resolution by the Georgia State Senate and letters from the Governors of Georgia and Hawaii. William Verdult is widely recognized as one of the top living artists in the United States today.

For the past fifty years, William's art exhibitions have been met with tremendous success. Since the 1970’s, William’s breathtaking art has headlined from coast to coast in major top-notch venues such as the biggest Las Vegas Hotels & Casinos (The Sands, The Sahara, The Aladdin, etc) as well as at premier art galleries in major centers for the arts such as Hollywood, San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Laguna Beach, Palm Springs, Atlanta, Honolulu, Miami, Dallas, and New York City to name just a few. Influences for William are wide-ranging: from his time in Europe as a child to his teen years in the wilds of North Dakota and his years as a young man in New York where at the age of 16 William worked in a machine factory and painted at Times Square in his off hours.

A true artist, William shunned museums and instead sought to bring his art to the masses, both small and great. His masterpieces have caught the attention of many in the art world and his works enjoy tremendous popularity with both art investors and art lovers. Followers and collectors of Verdult’s art range from royals, dignitaries, and heads of state to film, music and television stars such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Paul Newman, Jack Lord, Farrah Fawcett, Telly Savalas, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Lee Majors, Alfred Hitchcock, Robert Redford, John Wayne, Red Skeleton, Clint Eastwood, and many others.

After nearly 20 years, in the early 1980’s William completed his rendition of King Tut’s artifacts complete with 24k gold inlay and precious gem stones including diamonds. Seven out of the fifty-three pieces of the famed “King Tut Treasures” Collection hang on permanent display at the prestigious Tanglewood Resort in Texas. Other works of art have been donated to numerous organizations, causes, and institutions – including the Make A Wish Foundation.

William Verdult, now over 70 years of age, spends his days relaxing in the sunny resort town of Palm Springs, east of Los Angeles, California.
